Museo del Mare

A must visit museum, overlooking the harbour, divided into sections, each section devoted to a theme, from archeology to history to biology. The museum allows for continuous interaction and exchange between the visitor and the exhibition, one immerses oneself in the rooms and is projected into a world to be explored. For adults and children, I would go back ten more times. Too bad we weren't able to visit the villa and the art gallery

Visited last July on the occasion of an organized event, with a good guide who explained to us a little about the various historical stratifications of the coastal and Picena area since the Iron Age etc. On the ground floor there are a series of finds that lead back to those and subsequent eras with what remains of the Roman period, very interesting finds, amphorae and statues. It must be said that the spaces are really narrow and if you are in a group, as in our case (there were at least 40 of us), you can't turn around and above all, you can't breathe!!! In fact, there was no air conditioning and finishing the visit had now become a bit of an urgency for all of us, who couldn't wait to go out even though it was hot even outside. We didn't go up to the second floor so I can't testify to anything. Too bad for these inconveniences. However, I recommend a visit, perhaps equipped with fans!!!

We visited the 4 sections (Neolithic, fish, amphorae, maritime culture), the ones we liked the most were those of the fish museum and the amphorae museum. Very beautiful because it is interactive and children can see up close all the fishing tools, the amphorae, the stuffed fish, the boats and realize the commitment and effort necessary for fishing. The visit lasts about an hour.
